「青年科技專才展覽及比賽 2018」圓滿舉行
各界青年專才「超新星」創新工程意念展現眼前
今日（2018年7月8日），工程及科技學會香港分會（IET Hong Kong）青年會員部（YMS）的年度旗艦活動「青年科技專才展覽及比賽 2018」（YPEC 2018）於香港城市大學圓滿舉行。今年，活動以「Supernova（超新星）」為主題，希望點燃香港青年在科技及工程方面的創新思維，為智慧香港發展作出貢獻。大會很高興見到超過 70 隊來自 5 個組別（中學、專上教育、學士、學士後及公開組）、合共超過 250 名的青年專才積極參與其中，並透過演講及攤位，積極向公眾及傳媒展示他們準備多時的創新意念，激發香港的創科風氣。
大會亦很高興邀請到創新及科技局副局長鍾偉強博士蒞臨，與參與者分享香港的創新發展。鍾副局長表示：「政府認為創新科技是香港未來的經濟增長點。 我們正增加研發資源，以吸引技術人才、提供投資資金、加強技術基礎設施並修訂現有法例法規以促進相關發展。政府亦將增撥資源，加快香港創新科技發展，而生物科技和機器人技術將成為未來發展的兩個焦點。要使香港成為一個創新中心，官產學研的共同努力必不可少，而本局將繼續扮演促進者和推動者的角色。」活動中，來自政府、業界及學界的評審及嘉賓，包括立法會工程界盧偉國議員博士工程師，亦有參觀各青年專才的攤位，與他們互動交流。
為支持推動 STEM 教育發展並鼓勵青年人未來投身業界，激發香港的創科潛能，YPEC 2018 中學組冠軍隊伍將有機會到一所國際知名的工程公司香港分部進行為期兩天的工作體驗，而其他組別的冠軍隊伍則有機會晉身由工程及科技學會舉辦的「Present Around The World (PATW)」 全球科技演講比賽競逐殊榮，將香港精彩的創科新意念帶進國際舞台。今年，活動更新增「最佳創新意念獎」，鼓勵有前膽性及社會貢獻的工程意念。
